From Stuck to Inspired: How Jo Discovered Her ‘Why’

Time to Dream BIG!

The Need for Clarity

Jo Spottiswood, founder of The Spark Labs, was feeling stuck and unclear about her business direction and ultimate purpose.

Like many professionals, she devotes her time, energy and focus on serving clients, helping them to build and grow their brands by identifying needs and successfully delivering creative solutions.  

Although Jo excels at responding to client’s briefs, she didn’t have a clear brief for her own business vision. She was juggling so many ideas to build her brand and ambitious plans for business growth in her head.

As a creative and intuitive business owner, Jo often felt overwhelmed by her stream of thoughts and abundance of ideas. She knew she needed a fresh perspective and outside input to provide a roadmap for her own ideas.

Seeking Guidance

Having watched my TEDx Talk: The Clarity Quest, and seen IdeasBook, Jo felt my guidance could help her find a clear path. So she decided to invest in Daydream & Doodle Day in July 2024.

A Day of Transformation

Taking time away from her desk, computer and digital tools, Jo found Daydream & Doodle Day empowering. She enjoyed getting back to basics, using pen and paper, along with creative materials, to reignite her imagination. 

Chaophraya Thai Garden, an oasis of calm in the centre of Newcaslte upon Tyne, provided the perfect setting for an immersive workshop, designed to focus on ideas, dream big and create a treasure map of how to get there.

The Catalyst for Creativity

Jo found the experiential structure of the day incredibly useful. From creating imaginary characters to drawing your Superpower Self, experiencing ‘Gong Time’ and discovering your superpowers, the workshop is designed to bust myths around creativity, and overcome negative-self talk.

It provided Jo with the chance to step away from her routine and immerse herself in a creative, fun and supportive environment. Connecting with like-minded business owners, she realised she wasn’t alone in facing roadblocks.

The Clarity Quest IdeasBook and roadmap was provided as a framework to visualise ideas and understand the steps needed to bring them to life. 

Finding the Ultimate ‘Why’

One of the most significant breakthroughs for Jo was discovering her ultimate ‘why’. This concept, popularised by Simon Sinek’s TEDx Talk: ‘Start with Why’, emphasises the importance of understanding the deeper purpose behind what you think, say and do.

For Jo, uncovering her purpose was a pivotal moment that gave her a renewed sense of direction and motivation.
